The Vitalize peel is considered a 3-5 day peel designed to remove superficial layers of skin. Here's what you might expect at the doctor's office from the moment you arrive until your procedure is done.

Before Your Appointment
Avoid sun exposure, electrolysis, waxing, and depilatory creams 1 week prior to treatment. Discontinue Retin-A, Differin, alpha/beta hydroxyl acids and benzyl peroxide 2-3 days prior to treatment and 1 week after treatment. All makeup and lotions need to be removed prior to treatment. Men should avoid shaving the day of the treatment.

The Day of Your Appointment
Allow time before your appointment for filling out forms and for consulting with the doctor if the consult has not been done yet. We prefer for you to have the consult on a different day than your treatment day. You may also be asked about your expectations for treatment and if you have any allergies or any condition that wouldn't make you a good candidate for Vitalize peel.

Before the Procedure
You'll be asked to lie down on an exam table. No anesthesia is required. The solutions are applied to the skin with gauze in a 3 step process. Some stinging may occur during the application, therefore, a small fan will be provided for comfort. The treatment takes approximately 20 minutes to perform with little to no downtime. Once leaving the office the patient is discouraged from washing their face for 6 hours in order to get the full effect of the peel. Post treatment care will be given to the patients to follow.

Recovery
The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the next 2-3 days prior to skin peeling. After 48 hours flaking may occur. Limit sun exposure during treatment and for at least one week afterward. Use SPF 30. Avoid wearing foundation during the days the skin is actually peeling.

Results
After Vitalize Peel you will notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and tone, lessening of fine lines, a healthier, more youthful appearance. A series of 3-6 Vitalize Peels at 3 week intervals is recommended for dramatic results.
